Saturday, June 9, 2018 - 2:15 p.m.

Did you know that Mechelen played an important political and economic role in the Burgundian period? Many of its historical buildings bear witness to this. Hold on, because the list is long: Saint Rumbold’s Cathedral, the former palaces of Margaret of Austria and Magaret of York, the Palace of the Great Council,…

So, don’t hesitate, join us on June 9 and follow our dedicated guide through 16th century Mechelen.

After the 2 hours walking tour, those who wish to may join us for a drink or a coffee in the neighborhood and enjoy some more time in the beautifully renovated city of Mechelen…

How to get to Mechelen?
Mechelen is easily accessible by train and by car. You will find all the necessary information here
Please bear in mind that cars are banned in a large part of the city centre of Mechelen from 11:00 a.m. until 6 p.m. You can park cheaply in the car parks in Rode-Kruisplein and Zandpoortvest, on the fringe of the city. The car park in Douaneplein is free. More info here.

By train, it only takes 20 minutes from Brussels, Leuven and Antwerp. Mechelen has 2 stations: Mechelen Central and Mechelen-Nekkerspoel. Both stations are walking distance from the city centre. From Mechelen Central it is about a fifteen-minute walk to the Grote Markt, whilst it takes barely 10 minutes from Mechelen-Nekkerspoel (but be careful not all trains stop in Mechelen-Nekkerspoel).

If you wish to prepare your visit and have access to some city maps, you can easily download the brochure Streetwise in Mechelen.
