SOLD OUT: Best of Greek wines vertical tasting

    20 November  2025 - 19:30-22:30

TapaSoif, Rue De Witte De Haelen 24, 1000 Brussels

Wine tasting: Best of Greek wines vertical tasting

This event is now sold out, waitlist only.

Join our partner Terre Mieli Cieli for a unique "vertical" tasting of newer and older vintages of the same Greek wines.  The tasting will cover four of Greece's most iconic indigenous grape varieties: Mavrofílero and Assyrtiko for the whites, and Agiorgitiko and Xinomavro for the reds. There will be an earlybird wine for those who arrive on time, and a tsipouro at the end!

As usual, all the wines will be paired with plenty of good Greek food.

The wines will be presented by Petros Fotopoulos, the agronomist and oenologist who has shared his passion and knowledge about wine at several previous Greek wine tastings.

Unlike other wine tastings organised by Terre Mieli Cieli, which focuses on countries or regions, this wine tasting will explore one of the essential ingredients in the evolution of great wines: time.

Book early to reserve your spot! Participation is limited to the first 28 people who sign upThe tasting, costs 65 euros for ACB members.

Cancellations are possible until noon on 17 November, 2025. Participants cancelling after this time, as well as no-shows, are charged the full cost of the event.

Price: 20 euros for non-members of the Arts Society; 15 euros for members of the Arts Society.

The Minilateral Turn:  Germany, the US and Post-Hegemonic Transatlantic Security Cooperation

Speaker: Nele Marianne Ewers-Peters, DAAD/AGI Research Fellow

Moderator: Jeff Rathke, President and Director of the Foreign & Security Policy Program, AGI

The Euro-Atlantic region has recently experienced a number of shocks and shifts that have affected the contemporary European security order and the cohesion of its multilateral organizations, most notably NATO and the EU. As these organizations face an essential crisis, states have increasingly sought to form alternative frameworks and initiatives to advance their security interests. The concept of minilateral security cooperation (MSC) has, in this context, received greater scholarly attention.

While minilaterals can complement and support NATO and the EU, they might also lead to greater institutional fragmentation and divergences in the European security order. This raises questions about which states initiate minilateral security frameworks and with what motivations and rationales. This presentation will first discuss the concept and emergence of minilateral security cooperation in the Euro-Atlantic region. It will then focus on how the United States initiates and leads minilateral security cooperation. Finally, it will make some tentative comparisons to Germany’s approach and rationales.

Blind wine tasting: 8th Annual Battle of Bubbles

    Thursday, December 11 · 7:30 - 10:30pm

Le Comptoir Rodin, Avenue Auguste Rodin 8 1050 Ixelles

Back by popular demand! Join our partner Brandon from Terre Mieli Cieli for his 8th annual "Battle of the Bubbles" pairing off four good Champagnes against a few great Bubbles-That-Must-Not-Be-Called-Champagnes from the rest of the world.

This blind tasting will feature eight sparkling wines, most made in the same traditional method as Champagne, but from a few places you might not expect to make great sparkling wines. To keep things fair and fun, Brandon will cover the labels up-front and ask you to rate each as we go and then and only then will I unveil each wine after you've tasted it.  Who do you think will win this year? Champagne or Rest of World?

An earlybird wine will reward those who come and help us start on time. ;-)

As usual, the wine will be paired with plenty of good food.

The tasting, with a full dinner costs 75 euros for members. Participation is limited to the first 30 people who sign up.

Registration and Cancellations are possible until noon on 8 December, 2025. Participants cancelling after this time, as well as no-shows, are charged the full cost of the event.

    ACB FINAL FRIDAY COCKTAIL

    April 24, 18:30 - 21:30

Corinthia Brussels - Under the Stairs Bar

    Rue Royale 103, Brussels

Join the American Club of Brussels for our monthly Friday drinks at the beautiful Corinthia Brussels on April 24, 2026.

The Corinthia Brussels, formerly the Grand Hotel Astoria on Rue Royale, has been fully transformed into a luxurious Belle Époque-style hotel. Blending historic charm with modern elegance, it partners with local talent to offer elevated bar and dining experiences, positioning itself as a premier destination for both locals and global visitors.

We had such a lovely Final Final in a private room at the Corinthia in April, that we are now heading back for our September Final Friday to experience their newly opened, chic bar - Under the Stairs - which also has an outside courtyard that we can enjoy if the weather is good.

For those who are new to the ACB and our Friday drinks, each month we meet at a location around Brussels for our monthly get-together.
