SOLVAY HOTEL TOUR
The American Club of Brussels invites you for an exceptional tour of this uniquely beautiful landmark of Art Nouveau in Brussels.
Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Monument, the Solvay House is a part of the major Town Houses of the Architect Victor Horta.
In 1894, Armand Solvay, the chemistry magnate, son of the chemist, industrialist and philanthropist Ernest Solvay engaged Horta's services, granting him unlimited freedom of creation and unrestricted funding to bring to fruition the project of a home for his bride in Art Nouveau style. It is located on 224 Avenue Louise.
It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2000 as the core of urban residences that Horta designed before 1900.
For this wealthy patron, Horta could spend a fortune on precious materials and expensive details. He designed every single detail: furniture, carpets, light fixtures, tableware and even the doorbell. He used expensive materials such as marble, onyx, bronze, tropical woods, and more.
The construction lasted 5 years.
Join us on a guided visit of this major realization of Victor Horta in Brussels. Don't miss it!
